At Angler & Ale, guests can find the quirky art of Sugarloaf Key artist, Brad Gruss, among the nautical decor. Gruss creates his signature carved fish pieces using exotic hardwoods including local Cuban mahogany, hardwoods, and palms. After a career in the chemical/powder coating business, Brad retired in the Keys, where he’s since published a wild game cookbook and enjoys saltwater fishing. He’s spent the past four years creating his fish-inspired art.
For Brad, art is a family affair. His son Charlie’s fish art is also on display at Angler & Ale, featuring funky variations on local fish species. Both father and son’s artworks are also found in galleries across the Keys.
